Imagine a piano on the beach, being played by a person with the urge to sing a song that sounds a bit like ‘holy night, silent night’ in a way as if the voice was a humming violin. It’s a tiny bit odd as you can imagine that the little waves of the sea are softly splashing against the piano and slip back against the toes of the musician that is responsible for it. Nonetheless this is a bit what the first track seems to sketch in the mind. The piano music is very nice and fits quite nicely with the little waves and the soft beach background sounds; as if it is complimenting the scenery with every note of the key.
Hyaena Fierling’s ‘madrigal for sugar dogs’ begins with an atmospheric soundscape that comes across warm and mysterious. It feels natural and yet unnatural at the same time; something human made with the moving sounds similar to a damp propellor from a helicopter and rare daft firework explosions in the deep backdrop. Then voices appear as if they are sirens of first aid ambulances making their noises in the warm atmospheric surreal darkness. Somehow these sirens are not the sounds of an emergency response as they seemingly come across as if they actually quite enjoy themselves.
With ‘Sunrise in Utopia’ Hyaena Fierling gets joined by MUTATE to deliver a fierce and yet roaming track of warrior-like awakening. It’s as if the grainy color on the artwork is being penetrated by glorious hand drumming…
Eli Gras is a multidisciplinary artist active in lots of creative fields, but mostly known for her excellent career in experimental underground music since the early eighties. Her experimentations have covered all kinds of musical paths, from pure experimentalism to electropop, minimalism, funk, and so much more. What is striking to me from this artist is that she invents her own instruments, which of course brings a completely new and unique sound perspective to the ears and minds.
There are lots of videos of her live performances playing her inventions, which of course is an exciting thing to see and hear on the digital highway; but its even better and more exciting when you can hear and see her performing live in front of you. In a couple of days (upcoming Saturday 14th November) she will be doing her magical thing on the experimental cozy toxic grounds of Gifgrond.
I have loved the sound of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smiths’ music for some time, (a lot to do with the use of the Buchla Music Easel) ever since I first heard the track Sundry and this review has prompted me to make her the Artist of the Week.

It opens up with the calm easy going birds exploring the temperatures of a lovely day; but instead of having just nature do its thing it’s the artist’s lovable kindness in music that will make the inner hearts smile. Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith manages to use limited sounds to bring a melodically minimalism that seems to breath in and out love in the kindest order. It’s as if the artist captured the senses of naive innocence of a beautiful wishful day in natural surroundings; it’s soft, kind and cherishing.

Hello dear reader; good to see you here! I’m KN and on my way to the house of Betty Koster for an interview. In case you have been hiding away under a gravestone; Betty Koster is the music producer fairly known for her work under the Phantasm Nocturnes (and PN-lobit) moniker. Her music is pretty special and in general pretty damn spooky too! I’ve always wanted to meet her, so recently I just asked if she would be up for an interview. She agreed and now I’m on my way to her home.. How exciting and glad you can come along, as I’m probably too excited to pull this one off all on my own.
Luckily it’s been a wonderful day weather wise, maybe she has a garden to sit and sunbathe for a bit.. We are close now.. A nice and posh looking neighborhood..

See Pereria is the one delivering the ‘On(e)’ in its electronic coat of coolness & perfection. See Pereria’s EP begins with ‘Ceres’ which features a bubbled up baseline, funky acid looniness and a sensual voice that sings as if she is one human synthesizer that keeps the humanity within this midnight groove of a tune.
The second track named ‘Eris’ has a very nice moving baseline, and spiritually fitting vocals. At times I feel like its having a similar effect on my ears as the big ‘I feel Love’ hit by Donna Summer, but then something more celtic, mystical… something that wouldn’t be out of place heard through a valley blasted from the top of a large hill with lookout.
The last track is ‘Leda’ which uses a nice dubby scene to fly away on. It has a relaxing vibe…
Not very long ago we featured the new ‘Chris Cunningham’ of the next generation Jan Strach, but it’s only fair that there should be a female counter part to claim this precious throne of video art. Without all too much extravaganza I would like to inform you that our team of reporters and researchers did find the female ‘Cunningham’ of our next generation. Strangely this creative video artist had been sitting right under our noses, camouflaged as an experimental sound musician. Let’s give you a hint; it’s furry and has feathers?
