LOOKING BACK TO NOW – VIV CORRINGHAM
Like many people I get side tracked when I am looking for things on the net for Feminatronic. Often there are a wealth of articles, reviews and interviews from previous years. That is the problem with the net – here today, gone tomorrow.
I thought that I would give some of these ‘lost to the ether’ pieces a re run with the idea that this could be combined with a what the artist is doing now.
Here is the first looking back to the now with Viv Corringham. The link is to the news page on the website –

Free MP3 download!
Since I am looking at Sound Art his morning, here is a free download from Claire Guerin and Roisin Foley.
Free MP3 download of Radio Richmond hill recording, the first of 2015’s home recording sessions between Roisin Foley and Claire Guerin.
Final Sound Installation – Hayley Wanless
I have enjoyed reading about the process of creating Sound Art work from the point of view of a new artist – discovering the processes involved both practical and creatively.
Working within a space with 6 speakers has allowed me to find what works best with the space and equipment. Without access to this facility I believe my work would have suffered. The space allowed me to create the spacial effect that I wish to have when installing my work.
I have used Trial 8 and created a tempo fade up and down. The piece is split into 3 parts which all run after one another. The first is Trial 8 without any background noise. The Second is Trial 8 with Rain at Night Gamma background noise and the Third is Trial 8 with Bus Journey Theta background noise. I chose Rain at Night and Bus Journey because of their relation to solitude even if we are surrounded by sounds or people. We generally listen to sounds around us when we are alone, we listen to peoples conversations when we…

SOUNDCLOUD SPOTLIGHT – LOMITA
This is a new idea I am trying here, to spotlight the SoundCloud pages of artists, many of which only have their SoundCloud pages as their web presence, especially new or under the radar artists and so this is another means to give a bit of a boost and shine a light on their music.
This week introduces Lomita
TODAYS’ DISCOVERY – W00DY
W00DY ~ RNBW
Thanks to A Closer Listen for another great find and this is todays discovery.
As colorful as the rainbow of the title, RNBW is a joyous clash of genres: dance, drone, ethereal, industrial, and even noise. Refreshingly original, this debut full-length does much to reflect its inspiration: “the full spectrum of who we are.”
Modern associations one may make when considering the album are likely incorrect. According to Catherine Woodcock, the moniker started as a nickname, then mutated into a meld of alphabet and binary language: “it is not necessarily male or female, which is very freeing.” This RNBW hearkens back to a 70s metaphor for the rainbow, having less to do with gender and/or sexuality and more with pure expression.
“Never hesitate to be who you are,” sings W00DY on “Never Hesitate”, one of the album’s key tracks. Her voice is stuttered and echoes into a vast drone, which subsequently gives way to bass, beat and squelch, reminiscent of the dub/trip-hop blends of…
