I am an electronic musician who, as someone recently said to me, set up Feminatronic to act as "soft PR" for female electronic artists from all genres and styles. If I can give a little helping hand then why not?

Review Reblog – Ana Roxanne ~ ~~~

This is just perfect for this evening….thanks to A Closer Listen

ukstratboy's avatara closer listen

a1587750761_16Southeast Asian musician Ana Roxanne was born and raised in the Bay Area of LA. Her love of music began at an early age, initially through her mother’s CD collection of 80’s and 90’s R&B divas. She was raised in the Catholic Church and was soon a regular in the choir. Like a sweet offering of incense, Ana’s sublime voice rises up.

For Ana, singing is a lifelong passion. She began studying jazz and classical music, which led to her touring and performing in old cathedrals, whose lofty arches promote the ascension of tones, and where deep quietude only helps to heighten the power of the music. With its heart of sacredness, stillness, and purity, choral music goes hand-in-hand with ambient. And this stillness can be found in ~~~.

A near death experience also helped to forge a long-lasting connection between music and spirituality. Ana is more than willing…

Review Reblog – Snowdrops – Manta Ray (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Two beautiful releases for tonight beginning with this…

Gizeh Records – 15th March 2019

has graced the virtual pages of Aural Aggravation on a number of occasions, and has been on my radar for a while. Here, she comprises one half of newly-founded Snowdrops, a France-based keyboard duo formed with Mathieu Gabry.

With Yann Tiersen, Tindersticks, Foudre!… as resumé namedrops, the pair have pedigree. Snowdrops is a soundtrack work, composed for Phuttiphong Aroonpheng’s film of the same name, which has won several awards including Best Film in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival.

The press release explains that ‘the Thai film trains a poetic look at the void of humanity through the story of two men, a Thai fisherman with peroxide blonde hair and a nameless stranger stuck in a foreign land and supposed to be a Rohingya of Myanmar, whose continuing persecution is constituting one of the biggest human rights scandals of our time’. Review – Nonlocal Forecast: Bubble Universe! — We need no swords

…and now for something completely different

A diverting set of glossy, vaporwave-inflected cuts from Nonlocal Forecast that, despite the occasional lapse into the kind of burbling groove you might hear in your dentist’s waiting room, emits a strange, sticky aura sufficient to hold our interest” –

Artist notes:

“Windblow corresponds to an audible feeling of the mingling of different perspectives of an image or various perceptions of a sound from different angles.”

Thanks to A Closer Listen I came across Longform Editions an Australian distributor of longform listening tracks from a diverse range of artists.

Review Reblog – Felicity Mangan ~ Stereo’frog’ic — a closer listen

Sound artist Felicity Mangan has launched various interesting projects under the idea of “archiving garden sounds”, utilizing field recordings of Australian animals and their interactions with flora. One of these projects is Quadra’frog’ic, which plays on quadraphonic setups by means of a transducer speaker that plays sounds through the objects it’s attached to. The project […]

ORION
by Verónica Mota

Experimental, ambient, electroacoustic, industrial, noise, ritual.

“Orion“ is a composition that explores the human imagination in relation to physical phenomena and astral magick. There are five different chapters which take the listeners to a complexed sonic journey where different electro-acoustic textures happen to be physically & visually explored. This sonic sculpture honors the works of John Cage, Native Ritualistic Music & Science Fiction.”

Reblog – International Women’s Day 2019 — MAKING WAVES

There is always just so much posted on IWD and increasingly I feel overwhelmed by all the sheer amount of articles and playlists. However, here’s one that covers mostly Classical artists, some who use electronic processes but also covering several platforms such as Vimeo, Bandcamp and SoundCloud, all in one post. Concentrating on Australian composers – Really worth checking out.

Website  –  Making Waves – Discover New Australian Music

The theme for International Women’s Day in 2019 is #BalanceforBetter. Happy International Women’s Day! The team would like to acknowledge that lists such as these invariably exclude more composers than they promote. However, we embrace the opportunity to reflect on the striking music featured by female-identifying composer in Making Waves playlists and the Making Conversation […]
