There was an eerie hum emanating from a dimly lit room above a bakery on a side street in Durham. In the corner of the room, Lori Napoleon sat next to a series of old switchboards, draped in wires and covered in blinking red lights. She’s controlling the switchboards, which are creating the droning sound…

ARTICLE REBLOG – SOUNDING OUT!
Each of the essays in this month’s “Medieval Sound” forum focuses on sound as it, according to Steve Goodman’s essay “The Ontology of Vibrational Force,” in The Sound Studies Reader, “comes to the rescue of thought rather than the inverse, forcing it to vibrate, loosening up its organized or petrified body (70). These investigations into medieval sound […]

REVIEW REBLOG -Christine Ott ~ Only Silence Remains — a closer listen
This is one beguiling record. It starts with opera and ends with poetry, and in the end, only silence remains. The opening soprano segment makes an immediate statement: this is not conventional music. By the middle of the set, one may forget this fact, but on “Tempête” it returns with a vengeance. Update May 2016
Dear Reader,
Unaccustomed as I am to public writing I thought I’d better let you know that things have been a little slow here due to the call of the studio but some of the older usual’s will be back soon such as adding to the Artists pages that are becoming huge, Soundcloud Spotlight, Todays Discovery and Web focus.
Just as a reminder there are loads of things going on and I can’t keep up with it all so I suggest you have a look at some of the links sites – Feminatronic is just a tiny cog in the aim to raise awareness of artists who just happen to be women.
Also please visit the Twitter (@Feminatronic) feed and Facebook pages as there’s loads there too and connect if you like : )
