THEREMIN ECLECTICISM – Part 2
SOUNDCLOUD SPOTLIGHT – SARAH ANGLISS
SUNDAY MIX – THE MOON
The moon was but a chin of gold
A night or two ago,
And now she turns her perfect face
Upon the world below.
Her forehead is of amplest blond;
Her cheek like beryl stone;
Her eye unto the summer dew
The likest I have known.
Her lips of amber never part;
But what must be the smile
Upon her friend she could bestow
Were such her silver will!
And what a privilege to be
But the remotest star!
For certainly her way might pass
Beside your twinkling door.
Her bonnet is the firmament,
The universe her shoe,
The stars the trinkets at her belt,
Her dimities of blue.
The stars that round the Queen of Night
Like maids attend her
Hide as in veils of mist their light
When she, in full-orbed glory bright.
O’er all the earth shines from her height,
A silver splendour.
A tiny moon as white and small as a single jasmine flower
Leans all alone above my window, on night’s wintry bower,
Liquid as lime-tree blossom, soft as brilliant water or rain
She shines, the one white love of my youth, which all sin cannot stain.
A White Blossom
The stars around the fair moon fade
Against the night,
When gazing full she fills the glade
And spreads the seas with silvery light.
Against the night,
When gazing full she fills the glade
And spreads the seas with silvery light.
JAZZ NORTH EAST – WOMEN MAKE MUSIC
As Jazz North East explain the theremin has not been the instrument of choice for Jazz music creation but Beatrix Ward – Fernandez has seen the potential for Jazz expression. Also on the programme is Zoe Gilby who combines vocals with electronic effects. Should be a very interesting event.

Leon Theremin – The Man and the Music Machine
Electronic music pioneer Robert Moog built theremins long before he built synthesizers. In the 1960’s, he produced such models as the wedge-shaped Vanguard theremin and the shoebox shaped Moog Melodia theremin. Today, Moog Music Inc. produces the popular Etherwave and Etherwave Plus theremins and kits as well as the new MIDI-enabled Theremini theremin. Other popular models today include PAiA’s Theremax and Burns’ line of B3 theremins.
