It doesn’t happen everyday when two intriguing artists collaborate in a audio visual form, but when the odd moons align and such a special thing actually happens it’s for sure something to inform everyone about! Especially when the artists in question are ‪Agnès Pe & Jan Strach. The result is a spectacular experience in the shape of a excellent trip in music video form. Jan Strach heard ‘Para Ana’ by Agnès Pe and must have been incredibly inspired as the good man started to create the perfect visuals to the sounds. ‬

‪With his love for video games and the excellent trained ears for the bizarreness in the music spectrum, Jan Strach managed to make the track come alive. It’s a real trip, one that is best viewed…

I don’t know much about this music as I evidently avoided all the information that came with it as it appeared through our illustrious request form, but from my own ears and mind I could make up that this was a bit of a holistic revelation in sound ways. It was a calming one, that featured the prominent voice of a certain Tatyana Kalmykova that seemed to sing among the walls of ruins, or perhaps a still standing church with great acoustics. Sometimes her voice gets bounced into a room in which it still feels warm, yet the acoustics feel flat, a bit as if the bigness gets suddenly beamed through some old time radio.

Electric Elizabeth’s description of one of her actual music videos online sounds way simpler than what it deserves. She wrote “Some slowed down footage of water with one of my tracks over the top.” Of course that’s what it is, literally speaking, but imaginative speaking there is so much more to it. First of all the ‘one of her tracks’ that she added to the visual video is one that fits the water footage so extremely well, so much so that it might even be a bit frightening in how good it fits.

It’s like every bit of water flow, every wrinkle on top and in it is attached to the sounds generated by her track. It is as if the water knows exactly when to move and is triggered by her sounds, or that Electric Elizabeth had made the track…

Let me introduce you to this wonderful album by Eva Bowan; maybe you heard it already and maybe you didn’t, but I’m over the moon to share it here with you. It had been keeping me companionship in difficult times & thought you might experience comfort or joy within these tracks too. On before hand, please excuse me if this write up / review thing sounds a bit too serious; it’s just that kind of thing… it’s important to me & feel it deserves to be treated with the same respect as it had been treating me in it’s comforting & empowering audio ways…

Today’s Discovery – Ghost on the Stairs – Meemo Comma

 

“Meemo Comma is the new alias of Objects Limited boss Lara Rix-Martin. She previously released as Lux E Tenebris and as one half of the duo Heterotic (on Planet Mu). Her label Objects Limited issues a variety of electronic music from an exclusively women and non-binary roster.

‘Ghost on the Stairs’ explores how Lara Rix-Martin perceives sounds, as she has Auditory Processing Disorder. APD mostly affects how a person processes speech internally; background noises merge with language and every background sound has equal relevancy making it hard for an APD listener to understand voices, music and disentangling multiple audio sources.

Merging speech and voice into a strange and alien form has always been the core of  Lara Rix-Martin’s sound, but it’s given a stronger focus on this album. Incorporating similar meditative influences to her ‘Cyclizine’ EP; drones feature with a maximal/minimal all-encasing feeling that flickers between comforting numbness and anxiety. Tracks such as ‘Caturday’ and ‘Online Persona’ explore rhythms in the spaces in between the beats. “I’ve always found it interesting to think of rhythms in a negative way, what beats aren’t there, the spaces between”.

At first Dendera Bloodbath squeaks her ultimate power sounds in your ear like it’s a metal chainsaw going in full (but precise) overdrive! It feels like your head had been split in two, leaving it exposed for her other (more reasonable?) sounds-to-come,material that she will spill into your skull like a liquid brutal attack of Experimental origin. It’s all for the sake of science and experiment! How far can Dendera Bloodbath go? And what will drive you over the edge or please your ears tremendously? This artist seems to seek both extremities and wants to apply them both at the same time! Is that a pretentious project? It might be, but listening to her release it seems like this experiment works in full force!
