I am an electronic musician who, as someone recently said to me, set up Feminatronic to act as "soft PR" for female electronic artists from all genres and styles. If I can give a little helping hand then why not?
If you still want some listening suggestions, there are some great one’s here –
The natural world existed long before the creation of instruments: music made by wind and waves, birds and beasts. During the pandemic, many people have rediscovered the aural joys of nature: music that is always playing, and that can best be heard without headphones. Field recording artists capture these sounds like others do photographs, and […]
So, I’ve just had a little look at some of the Electronic History pages on Instagram and you wouldn’t have thought that there were any women in electronic music / instrument development but did find a few nice posts via Synth History –
Every year sites, reviewers, podcasts and media, post long lists of the best of this years releases and I find this problematic for many reasons but a major one is they often miss those well under the radar releases concentrating on particular popular genres, artists and labels, as well as creating subjective lists that cause divided opinions.
I’ve always just tried to post as many of the years releases that I’ve come across during December and this year is no different. I will be posting them here, on Twitter and Instagram.
My posts are not exhaustive and omit unwittingly many many releases but given that, without any preferences, rank or order here are the first collection…
During the past 9 years of Feminatronic I have been on a bit of a personal sonic journey around the world with the focus on human beings who just happen to identify as female and create electronic sounds /noise /music via a huge plethora of electronic means.
I’m on a semi sabbatical but here are just some of the sounds I’ve missed these past couple of months – no order, rank or preference. This playlist hopes to demonstrate some of the eclecticism that I have listened to this past couple of months but as usual it is just the tip of the iceberg.
As with all the playlists, they are jumping off points to discoveries. They are not meant to be definitive. Just let some of the tracks play onto the next….follow up on “sounds like”….see who’s following, many artists follow other artists…..
Artists as I listened to them, so it makes for an interesting playlist – Ch Webster, Flora Holderbaum, Kat Five, AJA, Valentina Villarroel, Da Pajararan, Mona Servo, Areliz Ramos, Corset Lore, MiLENASON, Simina Oprescu, NFNR, Howie Lee and Silvia Kastel feat. Yehaiyahan ( Silvia Kastel Remix) , Ekin Fil. Katrine Amsler, Jaslyn Robertson, Kathy Hinde, PETAL/ Kei Watanabe, Loo(p)cy and Jlin.
