I DON’T DO LISTS BUT…pt1

Every year sites, reviewers, podcasts and media, post long lists of the best of this years releases and I find this problematic for many reasons but a major one is they often miss those well under the radar releases concentrating on particular popular genres, artists and labels, as well as creating subjective lists that cause divided opinions.

I’ve always just tried to post as many of the years releases that I’ve come across during December and this year is no different. I will be posting them here, on Twitter and Instagram.

My posts are not exhaustive and omit unwittingly many many releases but given that, without any preferences, rank or order here are the first collection…

Eclectic Electronic Soundscapes –

During the past 9 years of Feminatronic I have been on a bit of a personal sonic journey around the world with the focus on human beings who just happen to identify as female and create electronic sounds /noise /music via a huge plethora of electronic means.

I’m on a semi sabbatical but here are just some of the sounds I’ve missed these past couple of months – no order, rank or preference. This playlist hopes to demonstrate some of the eclecticism that I have listened to this past couple of months but as usual it is just the tip of the iceberg.

As with all the playlists, they are jumping off points to discoveries. They are not meant to be definitive. Just let some of the tracks play onto the next….follow up on “sounds like”….see who’s following, many artists follow other artists…..

Francesco Cavaliere and Tomoko Sauvage embody a tactile audio visual display, radiating the colour green into sounds and painting meditative music…For their installation and performance, Cavaliere and Sauvage assemble a green cabinet of curiosities – an instrumentarium combining water, glass, clay, bamboo xylophones, metallophones and synthesizers. Tomoko describes in an interview: “When you are actually surrounded by green musical instruments, it has a calming effect as if you were looking at a forest or mountain.”
