female:pressure is an international network of over 1400 female artists from 65 countries in the wider fields of electronic music. This blog was inspired by Bjork’s Pitchfork article in January 2015 where she notes the lack of photographic documentation of women at work. Here we offer a visual catalogue of female producers, DJ’s, media artists and electronic music performers at work. These are not our press photos. This is a collective effort to demonstrate women and their use of technology in music and media production. Contributions welcome!

As Jazz North East explain the theremin has not been the instrument of choice for Jazz music creation but Beatrix Ward – Fernandez has seen the potential for Jazz expression. Also on the programme is Zoe Gilby who combines vocals with electronic effects. Should be a very interesting event.

Sequences has been established since 1992, although our editorial team have had a wealth of experience in the field of electronics for the past 45 years, from the early years of Stockhausen’s avant garde noises through to the pioneering days of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. Although today there are many clones who take their music from these artists, there are still are some creative musicians about who are not given the credit they deserve.
