ARTICLE REBLOG – Digging Deep And Deeply Delian : Sounds Explained And Unexplained

Robin The Fog's avatarRobin The Fog

Crumbs, it’s been a busy couple of weeks. Let’s start the beginning with my report for BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight on the recent Delia Derbyshire Day that took place at HOME, Manchester and that I was lucky enough to attend. Partly intended as an introduction to one of the great pioneers of the Radiophonic Workshop, much of the ground covered here will already be familiar to regular visitors to these pages; but listen closely and you’ll catch a couple of exclusive extracts from work that have lain unheard in Delia’s archive for decades! It’s a real privilege to be able to bring you even this small taster!

Part of my on-going commitment to keep the nation’s airwaves just that little bit Radiophonic, this report also went out on The World Service a few days later and was posted on The Today Programme’s Facebook page; all of which has hopefully helped to continue the festival’s…

After an open call to Iranians living in the Middle East, North African and South Asia – five emerging experimental musicians and artists were selected for a two week residency in the UK. In collaboration with Southbank Centre (Europe’s largest performing arts venue), London College of Communication (the only Sound Art Department in the University of London), and Resonance104.4FM – UK’s art-music radio station, Six Pillars created a two weeks residency that involved, intense workshops on everything from releasing music to creating visuals and social media for musicians.

The residency was part-tutored by the legendary Keith Rowe, who is “to guitar what Pollock was to the canvas” of the avant-garde band AMM, and culminated in a performance at Southbank Centre with the MA sound-art students of LCC. For more info check out #IranUKSonics on social media

EVENT NEWS – Introducing our new commissioned artists for DD Day 2016

NEWS – female:pressure – Call for Submissions

female pressure

< CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS >

via female:pressure statement –

female:pressure is launching an awareness and solidarity campaign for the canton of #Rojava (located in northern Syria), where women participate on all levels of decision making and building a new society from scratch, with built-in social, racial and ethnic justice, religious freedom, ecological principles and gender equality.

With a series of music, media and sound art to listen, dance and fight to, we would like to send our love and strength to these women and spread a positive message in support of their efforts.

We are calling for participation and submission of works. The work must be related and critically deal with the topic of #Rojava; otherwise there are no restrictions. Everybody is welcome!

NEWS – Rhythms and Song / Reductive book launch at Hundred Years Gallery

Daniela Cascella's avataren abîme

Rhythms and Song is a new text published in the Reductive Four book . It’s in five parts: 1 and 5 are recordings of inner voices as well as prompts/scores for reading, 2, 3 and 4 were born out of very specific moments and materials: remembering a statue of Martyr Saint Vittoria in Rome during a gig (bones and wax), counting/listing some books of mine that got burned in a fire earlier this year (paper and fire), mixing the voices of Twin Peaks’ Nadine and Breton’s Nadja (silence and voice).

I will read from the texts during a performance in collaboration with Ryoko Akama on Friday 27th November at Hundred Years Gallery in London , as part of the Reductive Four book launch.

Rhythms and Song

1. That listening feeling.

2. The murmurs of Saint Vittoria, martyr.

3. The silences of Nadine and Nadja.

4. After the fire. A litany of…
